#Dubai attacked and occupied by Force

Please note the following are simply facts for your knowledge, and comments.
It also saves us repeating the whole story of what happened and how it happened.

Friday 26th January just before midnight saw #Dubai Undernet being threatened and bullied, and finally, the recipient of massive Denial of Service (DOS) attacks similar to what Etisalat faced earlier last year when their service was constantly down.

This caused all Channel Operators (Moderators or SYSOps) who regulate #Dubai to disconnect. The channel was thus left without any people in charge.

The IRC Ops (Those in charge of the Undernet IRC Network, kindly came in and restored the legitimate OPs of #Dubai, only to have the same DOS attacks resumed till the reinstated OPs disconnected.

The ones causing all this had a simple demand, put in the form of a request, which if denied, would be followed by the DOS attacks. They wanted to be OPs in #Dubai even though they had never spent any time in the channel and had no interest in it as a place to chat.

Their aim is more to prove they have the power to disrupt, than to cause any other kind of trouble.

Their ability and power to do what they have done appears to rest on their "dual T3" lines and hacking abilities, which were openly boasted about.

Thus these people now have parked themselves in our channel, and basically can do as they please.

So far they have been quite pleasant in their ways apart from the DOS attacks.

A complaint could be made to Etisalat / EIM via their email address for abuse of service. However experience has shown us that they are least interested in Denial of Service attacks, and would neither respond nor do anything.

These are the people involved so far.

Dont worry about hackers. If your site gets attacked by a hacker its for one reason only IT'S A GOOD SITE. Its as simple as this, your security needs upgraded.

Hello. The nature of the attacks were advanced 'papa' smurf attacks, using extensive broadcasts. This is a magnification attack, it is a denial of service attack that relies on the ability of a crafted request packet to generate more than one packet in response. The multiplication effect of these attacks make it possible for an attacker with limited bandwidth to generate a packet stream much larger than would normally have been possible. By directing this stream at a target with limited bandwidth, it is possible to saturate their network connection, effectively denying service. This basically means a multiplier effect can cause 700k/sec of bandwidth to multiply to 70mb/sec or more onto a victim. Smurf attacks of this nature are virtually impossible to trace, and in your case, with etisalat, i am confident that a trace is absolutely impossible as the technical skills and proficiencies are simply not available. Please note that i am not taking sides i am just making the nature of the attacks clear. From what i have gathered the attacks are merely to proove a point and from what i see on #dubai, no ransoms are being made. -F l u r d o i n g http://flurnet.org
