DALnet bans emirates.net.ae
but there is a way to get connected.
Read on.

All chatters who get the resolved IP of emirates.net.ae have been k-lined from DALnet.

The reason given is:

Closing Link: emirates.net.ae

Due to repeated and constant clonebot floods from the emirates.net.ae domain, your service provider is no longer welcome on DALnet.

It was really just a matter of time before this happened.

This position could be seen considering how lame things have become on DALnet.

Most unknowing UAE chatters end up there simply because DALnet is the first choice of IRC server in the popular mIRC chat software.

Well, the solution is simple. All non-lame UAE chatters, just make your way to the rocking #Dubai on Undernet.

Update on 30 October 2000

Some servers are allowing emirates chatters back onto Dalnet.

This usually happens when you IP resolves and doesn't stay at:
213.42.*
but comes out as
*.emirates.net.ae

Some servers which are allowing this are:

philly.pa.us.dal.net --> paranoia.se.eu.dal.net

and the one that we used to get in:

/server twisted.ma.us.dal.net 7000

The trick is to keep trying to reconnect using different servers and different ports.
The main ports being 6666 , 6667 , 6668 , 6669 , 7000

The reason for this is that Dalnet's ban is on the IP range of 213.42.*
and not on *.emirates.net.ae OR 195.229.* (Update 5/Nov)

All right. So now there are a lot of Dalnet regulars in #Dubai on Undernet. And they all want to get back into Dalnet.

It is difficult to get connected there. That is for sure. As long as that Auto Kill is on - there are going to be problems.

So what can be done?

Well for one, email abuse@emirates.net.ae and tell them to do something about it.

Paste the info above left for them. It is their job to resolve the issue. But experience shows they will only act when they get loads of indignant emails.

So email them and ask them repeatedly what they are doing.

It is the BEST way. And we pay them to ensure their customers don't abuse the services.

5. Warez trading.
6. Kiddy porn trading.
7. Hacking.
8. Channel and nickname takeovers.

9. Evading channel bans or k-lines.
10. Evading user ignores.
11. Abuse of services (NickServ, ChanServ, MemoServ).
12. ICMP bombs.
13. Mail bombs.
14. Mass Inviting/advertising
